The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 2,300 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) has recently launched the Heidelberg Center for Personalized Oncology (dkfzhipo), headed by Prof. Peter Lichter, that combines outstanding expertise in functional genomics, systems biology and clinical oncology at DKFZ. It aims at performing genome sequencing for all its tumor patients (approx. 6,000-7,000 p.a.) at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) within the next three years. To address the fundamental bioinformatics challenges in dramatically scaling up large-scale genome sequence analysis in a clinical setting we are seeking

2 Postdocs/Bioinformaticians (m/f)

Beyond the technical challenges, the candidates will be able to interact with internationally leading scientists in molecular biology and biochemistry to unravel novel regulatory mechanisms by next generation sequencing, e.g. in the context of existing and planned collaborative research centers (Sonderforschungsbereiche/SFB). These positions will offer excellent career options to both young and senior postdocs in bioinformatics, systems biology and beyond.

Desired Profile:

• PhD which includes a substantial component in bioinformatics or computer science (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in the analysis and manipulation of large datasets
• Familiarity with the tools for DNA sequence analysis
• Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g. Python, PERL) under Linux desired
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are prerequisite
