Phd studentship: High throughput sequencing, Dresden Germany

We have an open position for a PhD student in Bioinformatics, with a particular focus on analyzing Next Generation Sequencing data. Applicants should have a a background in Bioinformatics or related fields, and interest in tight collaboration with experimental groups both locally in Dresden and at Heidelberg University. The position is in the context of a collaborative research project with Heidelberg University, the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, and Beiersdorf AG (“NIVEA”) as industrial partner, and focuses on Systems Biology of Aging.

We are an international, young team working in Computational and Systems Biology, and offer an interdisciplinary working environment in an exciting and booming research area, and first-hand experience in collaborative research at an internationally competitive level. We are located on the Medical campus of the University of Technology Dresden, one of Germany’s leading research campuses in the life sciences area. The building is located on the Biotechnology Campus, situated in the beautiful valley of the river Elbe, and next to the DFG Research Center and Cluster of Excellence –CRTD, the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, the TU Dresden Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus, and the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering. The position is paid according to the German TV-L salary scale (1/2 E-13), and available starting immediately. The position offers the possibility to obtain a PhD degree at any of the faculties of the University of Technology Dresden.
