Post-doctoral Fellow : Rotterdam, Netherlands
We have an opening for a post-doctoral fellow within a research program focussing on the identification of drugable targets and substrates modulating mesenchymal stem cell function, expansion and differentiation. The extracellular matrix is not only involved to maintain structure and integrity of a tissue but it also has an important role in the regulation of tissue homeostasis and control of cell function. The specific focus of this project is on (natural) extracellular protein matrix and mesenchymal stem cell maintenance and on the impact on mesenchymal stem cell differentiation towards bone, fat and cartilage cells. The aim is to unravel the molecular processes and networks underlying the interaction between extracellular matrices and stem cells. The experimental work consists of in vitro cell studies, including generation of induced pluripotent stem cells, as well as in vivo bone formation assays in combination with state-of-the art gene and protein analytical techniques.
Description
We are looking for a creative and innovative scientist at a stage of his/her career that he/she is developing into an independent researcher. Molecular and cellular biological expertise, preferably in the field of mesenchymal stem cell research and application is required. Expertise with mass spectrometry-based proteomic approaches, in vivo and ex vivo imaging techniques, and animal studies is an advantage. Affinity with bioinformatics and systems biology approaches is preferred. The candidate should be a team player. The candidate should have published in peer-reviewed journals and having written successful grant applications is an advantage.
